Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also performs music. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Shield she has had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live in concert and act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar star. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance in New Delhi. In 1999, she completed her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. The singer has released Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. The stage work she has done is vast as she has been in every one of the biggest venues in the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve musical performances. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 book, which is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a part as a character in Dance Like a Man as the Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to develop and we are likely to see a variety of things from her in the years to come. Anoushka Shankar is an English born musician who spent her early days between London, Delhi and California. At the age of 9 she began her studies in music alongside her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka performed with her father on his worldwide tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. In her teenage years she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. Her talent and musicality was recognized by British parliament as among the finest at Asian Arts.
