Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. Many people unfamiliar with the word generally believe that it's an separate island off the coast of Montreal but in fact this part of West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the town of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to originate from the West Island, although this does not exist. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. She had a dream to become an elite dancer, however due to an explosive increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dance colleagues. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that she was 6 feet 1 inch tall. As soon as I was able to outgrow male friends, I quit. Former dancers often turn to acting, and Brugel was not an exception. The drama instructor at her high school pushed to Brugel into the direction she was looking for. Her teacher advised her to try out for roles in the school's production. She threw herself into it and ended up playing the lead in Anne of Green Gables. This resulted in being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. In the 20+ years since Brugel was offered roles in over 60 shows on the small and big screens drawing the most attention when she was cast as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actor to appear in the season 1 which was only seen occasionally.
